Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud for Europe, providing full-stack AI solutions from frontier models to developer tools and compute infrastructure. The Cloud Platform team is responsible for the systems that enable customers in finance, healthcare, and the public sector to run frontier models on European-jurisdiction infrastructure.
In this role, you will build Mistral's Kubernetes product end-to-end: a metal-to-on-demand platform built on in-house infrastructure with GPU support for training, inference, and general-purpose compute. Kubernetes is the product itself, not just an internal platform—it runs on infrastructure Mistral owns and operates completely.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and ship the Kubernetes control plane, owning architecture and critical implementation decisions around scheduling, operators, provisioning, and node lifecycle
- Own the reliability of the Kubernetes control plane as a headline KPI, making decisions when systems fail at scale
- Reduce time-to-deployment from weeks of manual work to minutes of automation
- Partner with Product Managers on priorities, scope, and technical/business tradeoffs
- Raise engineering standards through code review and knowledge sharing across the Cloud Platform organization
Your decisions will shape how Mistral's infrastructure scales from today's footprint to a gigawatt of compute by 2030, and how frontier AI research becomes production systems used by millions.
Requirements:
- Shipped production systems in Go (not dabbled—shipped at scale)
- Run Kubernetes in anger; ideally built parts of it (operators, schedulers, controllers)
- Deep understanding of what happens underneath Kubernetes; hands-on Linux experience, not just managed services
- Experience running GPU workloads on Kubernetes, or confidence to own that domain quickly
- Extensive experience building backend or infrastructure systems
- Partnered with product, design, and business teams to ship software to real users
- Low-ego, team-first mindset; technical force other engineers want to work alongside
