Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud for Europe, providing full-stack AI solutions from frontier models to developer tools and compute infrastructure. The Cloud Platform team operates European-jurisdiction infrastructure serving customers in finance, healthcare, and the public sector, scaling toward a gigawatt of compute across Europe by 2030.
You will join the Fleet Delivery team as a hands-on software engineer responsible for automating the transformation of arriving hardware into accepted, production-ready clusters. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software, requiring both deep technical expertise and occasional on-site datacenter work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building the delivery pipeline in Go: provisioning, configuration, validation, burn-in, network bring-up, and software stack installation
- Owning and relentlessly driving down time-to-acceptance—the hours between physical rack installation and serving customer workloads (industry standard: weeks; your target: days to hours)
- Working closely with Hardware Design and Fleet Health teams to ensure reliability from delivery onward
- Managing GPU fleets at scale, including H100 and GB200-class nodes, InfiniBand and RoCE fabrics, and their associated failure modes
- Partnering with Product Managers and the datacenter organization to plan delivery waves against capacity commitments
- Measuring, analyzing, and eliminating bottlenecks in the delivery process
This is a measurement-driven role where you will own a clear KPI and drive continuous improvement. Most time is spent coding and designing architecture; some time involves datacenter floor work to ensure automation survives real-world hardware conditions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years building backend or infrastructure systems
- Demonstrated experience automating bare-metal fleets—you have written software that turns racks into clusters; if you've done it manually, you resented it and scripted it
- Hardware fluency: deep understanding of servers, GPUs, NICs, switches, and firmware; ability to read parts lists and topology diagrams
- Deep Linux expertise: comfortable working well below the application layer
- Shipped production systems in Go (not dabbled—shipped)
- Willingness to travel to datacenter sites when work demands it
- Low-ego, team-first mindset; technical excellence paired with collaborative spirit
