Swarm Aero is building the world's largest swarming UAV network and Command & Control software to coordinate thousands of heterogeneous autonomous aircraft. The company is Series A-funded with a team of experienced aerospace engineers from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic.
As a Fullstack Software Engineer, you'll architect the frontend for Legion's Command & Control platform—the software that enables a single operator to plan, direct, and execute missions across networked drone swarms in real time, even with intermittent communications. This is not typical dashboard work; it involves real-time distributed systems, dense telemetry visualization, and interface design for a problem space with minimal prior art.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting the frontend for a C2 system directing heterogeneous aircraft swarms
- Building distributed, collaborative real-time infrastructure for controlling large numbers of aircraft simultaneously with resilience to communication dropouts
- Designing and shipping novel UI concepts for vehicle telemetry, sensor data, scheduling, crew resources, and data link management
- Owning full-stack features end to end, from design through deployment
- Shipping frequently with strong CI/CD, QA, and DevSecOps support
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
- 6+ years building complex full-stack applications with substantial frontend and backend depth
- Strong UI/UX instincts and practical design skills
- Production experience with React or comparable modern frameworks
Desirable experience:
- Both immediate mode (games, simulation) and retained mode UI paradigms
- Performance-sensitive application development
- Video streaming protocols
- WebGL/OpenGL
- Geospatial applications
This role offers meaningful equity in a high-growth defense technology company, competitive base salary, comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k), PTO, paid sick leave, wellness stipend, catered lunch, and paid parental leave. You'll have direct impact on critical national security missions alongside a world-class team solving genuinely hard problems.
