In this Senior/Staff Engineer role, you will own significant portions of Cogent's product experience, working across the full software stack. You'll design and implement the AI product for enterprises running on both multi-tenant cloud and single-tenant enterprise platforms. Initial products include a customer portal, knowledge engine, internal labeling tool, and external customer dashboard.
You will have high autonomy and responsibility in shaping the technical roadmap and product strategy. Your focus will be on building world-class generative interfaces in cybersecurity, ensuring that sophisticated AI is backed by intuitive UI that helps customers protect their organizations. You'll also help establish engineering culture at Cogent by onboarding and upleveling team members, participating in interview processes, and contributing to Engineering Excellence, Operational Excellence, and Recruiting initiatives.
The role requires shipping products quickly while maintaining high quality and scalability. You'll work across backend systems (microservices, APIs, databases), frontend development (React, Vue, Angular), API design (REST, GraphQL, gRPC), and cloud infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure). You'll integrate internal and external systems and collaborate cross-functionally in an Agile environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional experience as a hands-on engineer working across the full software stack
- Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems including microservices, APIs, and databases
- Strong frontend development experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) and web technologies (HTML, CSS, TypeScript)
- Ability to work across the stack, integrating backend services with dynamic frontends
- Proficiency in API design (RESTful, GraphQL, or gRPC) and integrating with internal and external systems
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Solid experience in Agile development processes including code reviews, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration
