CLEAR is building a secure identity platform serving 43+ million members across travel, enterprise, healthcare, and financial services. The company is transforming how people experience frictionless, secure identity verification at airports, stadiums, and in everyday digital interactions.
As a Software Engineer, you'll own complex technical problems end-to-end—from design through deployment—partnering with Product, Design, Security, and Operations teams. You'll design, build, test, and deploy scalable applications powering CLEAR's identity platform, taking projects from technical discovery through implementation, rollout, and operational support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and deploying scalable applications across CLEAR's three technology pillars: Core Identity, CLEAR1, and CLEAR Travel
- Owning projects end-to-end with a bias for action in ambiguous environments
- Driving engineering excellence through improved system reliability, performance, testing, observability, and developer experience
- Contributing to architectural decisions that enhance scalability, security, and maintainability
- Collaborating through code reviews and sharing engineering best practices
- Translating business problems into simple, scalable technical solutions
You bring 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications. You have strong fundamentals in distributed systems, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and modern software architecture. You're experienced with Python, Java, React, and TypeScript, and comfortable building cloud-native applications on AWS using Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines. You excel at owning complex cross-functional projects, communicating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, and operating independently in ambiguity while making thoughtful tradeoffs. You're collaborative, passionate about improving engineering practices, and focused on delivering measurable customer and business impact.
The hiring process is swift, typically completed in about 3 weeks, with stages including a recruiter call, technical screen, onsite panel interviews, and final discussions.
