As a Software Engineer on the Performance team, you'll tackle large-scale systems challenges as Clay scales rapidly. You'll be responsible for identifying performance bottlenecks across the platform and developing optimized systems to improve throughput and reliability of core infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include:
- Comprehensive analysis of systems to identify and address performance bottlenecks
- Creating and monitoring meaningful performance metrics across service components
- Advising other engineering teams on scalable and performant feature design
- Addressing critical scalability challenges such as Postgres/Redis sharding, ECS task splitting for independent scaling, and Node event loop optimization
You should bring:
- Results-oriented mindset with bias toward impact
- Proven experience in API latency optimization
- Strong SQL expertise, preferably with Postgres
- Track record in performance-focused roles
- Expertise in query optimization and schema design for relational databases and distributed search
- Deep knowledge of Redis, Postgres, ElasticSearch, or OpenSearch
Nice-to-haves include experience with large-scale data systems, serverless AWS optimization, and familiarity with Clay's tech stack (React, TypeScript, Python, AWS services, Terraform, CircleCI, observability tools like Datadog).
