Watershed is an enterprise sustainability platform used by companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for regulatory reporting (including CSRD), and drive real decarbonization.
You will join as an early member of the engineering team, working on building APIs, data models, and pipelines that make sustainability data clear, accessible, and actionable for enterprise customers. The role spans the full stack—from backend systems to frontend interfaces—using Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, React, TypeScript, and modern cloud infrastructure. You'll ship code to production on day one and collaborate closely with product, design, climate science, and data science teams.
Specific projects may include: building interactive data visualizations for climate leads to understand emissions; creating APIs to unify carbon data access; developing data pipelines for financial institutions to measure and report emissions across portfolio companies; and building tools for customers to ingest and interpret business data.
You should have 3+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in Node.js web development or data pipelines, with a track record of building scalable software from user needs. You're customer-obsessed, outcome-oriented, and excited to help evolve a growing engineering team at a mission-driven startup. Prior expertise in the specific tech stack is not required—the ability to pick up technologies quickly matters more.
Workplace: Hybrid, 4 days per week in office at the New York hub (with satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin; headquarters also in San Francisco, London, and Mexico City). Certain roles are open to remote work and will be specifically noted.
