Thatch is building software that rewires how health benefits work, giving employees real control over employer-funded coverage. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll own broad product surfaces end-to-end—from concept through production—working across frontend and backend systems that power onboarding, benefits management, and payments. This role touches real money and real healthcare decisions, so correctness and reliability are paramount alongside creating simple, intuitive experiences. You'll take ownership of meaningful product areas, shipping quickly without sacrificing code quality or long-term maintainability. You'll contribute across the full stack using Ruby on Rails (backend), React and TailwindCSS (frontend), with Python and JavaScript where appropriate. The engineering organization is structured around the people served—members, employers, and partners—so teams own end-to-end experiences and ship with speed and accountability. Key responsibilities include translating user and business needs into pragmatic technical solutions, setting a high bar for code quality and system design, taking responsibility for production systems including reliability and debugging, and collaborating cross-functionally with strong product judgment. You should have experience building and shipping production web applications across the stack, strong product judgment and comfort with ambiguity, ability to reason about complex systems and business logic, and familiarity with modern engineering tools and frameworks. Prior Ruby experience is helpful but not required; the company cares more about how you think than which language you know. Experience that stands out includes work in healthcare, finance, or other regulated domains; experience with HR, payroll, payments, or partner-facing systems; and ownership of systems with real operational or financial impact. The company operates with trust, ownership, and high empathy, values clarity over ceremony, and ships early to learn from real usage.
