Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Coinbase Advisor team, a world-first RIA-licensed agentic trading system. Coinbase Advisor is an AI advisor embedded in the Coinbase app that converses naturally about users' portfolios, delivers personalized financial advice, and executes trades autonomously. This role is primarily frontend-focused on a full-stack team.
You will own the end-to-end frontend experience across React Native mobile and web, including the agentic chat interface, Strategies experience, and all user entry points. You'll build real-time, streaming interfaces for AI-driven advice and trade recommendations where sub-second responsiveness and visual clarity are compliance requirements. Your work will directly shape agent behavior through prompt engineering, evaluations, and conversation analysis—treating the system prompt as a product surface.
Responsibilities include extending Go backend services and LLM integrations (LLM Gateway, Google Gemini) when needed for great frontend experiences, driving frontend architecture for streaming state and real-time market data rendering, and partnering with design, engineering, and the registered investment adviser to ship features within regulatory guardrails.
Required experience: 2+ years shipping consumer-facing products at scale with expert TypeScript and React proficiency. You must demonstrate ownership of frontend architecture including state management, API patterns, and performance optimization. Production experience with LLMs—agentic systems, tool calling, streaming responses, or conversational interfaces—is essential. You should have a proven track record driving projects zero-to-production with minimal oversight. Backend fluency in Go and familiarity with crypto, trading, or financial products is required, enabling full-stack shipping when needed. You should use generative AI responsibly with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.
Coinbase is remote-first but not remote-only, with quarterly in-person "surge" sessions for intense collaborative work.
