Synthesia is a $4B AI video platform trusted by 90% of the Fortune 100. The Video Agents team is building the next generation of interactive learning experiences—moving beyond passive video into AI-driven conversations, surveys, and knowledge checks that learners actively engage with. Examples include sales reps completing roleplays with AI avatars, learners answering quiz questions mid-video, and managers assessing readiness.
As a Frontend Engineer on this team, you'll build directly inside Synthesia's editor—the core creative surface where content creators design these interactive experiences—and extend the video player where learners consume them. You'll define new agent types from scratch: configurable, interactive, and deeply integrated across the platform end-to-end.
Key responsibilities:
- Build new agent types in the editor (survey agents, knowledge-check agents, quiz flows) that creators configure and learners interact with in real time
- Own features end-to-end: from editor UI through app state and logic, into the player experience
- Work primarily in a large, complex React + TypeScript application with some video player work
- Collaborate closely with product and design to shape interaction patterns and push back when needed
- Make small backend changes (NodeJS) when necessary to unblock frontend work
Required experience:
- 4–6+ years of frontend engineering with TypeScript and React; backend knowledge (NodeJS) to take features end-to-end
- Experience building large, complex web applications—ideally editors, design tools, no-code/low-code platforms, or workflow builders
- Comfortable owning frontend features independently from UI through state management and application logic
- Familiarity with real-time interactions (WebSockets, live collaboration patterns)
- Strong product mindset: thinking about actual user needs, not just specs
Nice to have:
- Experience with AI-powered features, agent interfaces, or LLM-integrated products
- Observability experience (Datadog, Sentry, Grafana)
- Complex state management in large frontend applications
