Superhuman is building an AI productivity platform that integrates across multiple surfaces—Chrome extensions, desktop apps, web editors, and mail clients. As a Front-End Software Engineer, you will own the interfaces that deliver AI capabilities directly to users, including real-time chat experiences, inline agent suggestions, document editors, and no-code agent builder tools.
You'll tackle deep craft challenges: orchestrating state across browser extensions, native desktop apps, and web surfaces; making agentic workflows feel instant and fluid; and shipping a consistent experience across a product suite reaching millions of users. The role spans the full Superhuman product suite—Go (proactive AI assistant), Mail, Docs, Grammarly integrations, and enterprise deployments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building interfaces for AI-powered products used by millions, including real-time chat, inline agent suggestions, document editors, and agent builder tools
- Designing and implementing rich, responsive user interfaces in React and TypeScript
- Working across multiple product surfaces (web, desktop, browser extensions) with high availability requirements for consumer and enterprise customers
- Solving hard interaction design problems: streaming content, complex state management, and multi-surface interactions
- Collaborating with Product, Design, and ML/AI teams to translate AI capabilities into intuitive user experiences
- Contributing to engineering culture with emphasis on documentation, testing, and user experience
- Mentoring and growing junior engineers on the team

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years of front-end development experience
- Expert-level knowledge of TypeScript and/or JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Extensive experience with ReactJS or similar UI frameworks
- Modern web client development and testing tools proficiency
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals (algorithms, data structures)
- Comfort working with AI-powered features (LLM-generated content, streaming responses, agentic workflows)
- Prior experience integrating AI/ML into product surfaces is a plus
- Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.)
- Experience with browser extensions, cross-platform web clients, or multi-surface front-end shipping is a plus
- Deep understanding of continuous integration and delivery methods
- Strong product instincts and focus on end-user experience
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaborate effectively across teams
