Cloudflare's Front Line (FL) group maintains and develops the main Cloudflare web server, processing over 150 million HTTP requests per second—the largest web server in the world. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will collaborate with talented engineers to increase the availability, safety, and reliability of the edge ecosystem.
You'll work on a Rust-based platform with over 20 teams collaborating on the same codebase. Your focus will be on improving efficiency, safety, deployment frequency, automation, and observability. You'll be at the nexus of Cloudflare's edge applications and operations, collaborating closely with most other product and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing improvements to increase reliability, availability, and security at the edge
- Applying solid computer science fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, concurrency control, and distributed systems design
- Driving communication and consensus across teams
- Contributing to continuous improvement in both operations and new product development
- Building innovative solutions to serve millions of users globally
Desirable experience includes:
- Practical performance engineering
- Languages: Rust, Go
- Knowledge of web servers and web protocols
- Distributed systems architecture
- Web security issues and industry standards
