Sakana AI, a Tokyo-based AI company, is seeking a Software Engineer to design and develop AI-powered applications across the full stack—frontend, backend, and infrastructure. You will contribute to customer-facing products while leveraging generative AI to improve internal development and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop AI-integrated applications from frontend through backend, including service operations and maintenance
- Actively incorporate generative AI into internal development and operational workflows for efficiency gains
- Potentially work on-site at client offices for extended periods on select projects
Required Experience:
- Hands-on development/operations experience in at least 2 of the following 3 areas (all three preferred):
• Frontend: React, Next.js, TypeScript
• Backend: Node.js, Go, Python, Java, Ruby
• Infrastructure: AWS/GCP cloud systems, Docker and container technologies
- Business-level Japanese proficiency (written and conversational); business-level English a plus
- Strong motivation to expand into full-stack development across all three domains
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience at AI-driven tech companies or data-driven organizations
- 0→1 product launch experience
- UI/UX design knowledge
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor)
- Hands-on experience with LLMs or generative AI agents
