Roblox is a platform where tens of millions of people explore, create, play, learn, and connect in 3D immersive digital experiences. The company is building tools and infrastructure to empower a global community of developers and creators.
As a Software Engineer on the Engine Systems team, you will help build the core diagnostic instrumentation for Roblox's engine. You will support and build systems that monitor and analyze Roblox from the hardware level up to end-user experience, serving millions of concurrent users.
You will contribute to platform-level systems that help Roblox understand hangs, crashes, performance regressions, and session health across supported clients (mobile, desktop, and major consoles). This work requires navigating hardware and vendor-specific limitations across devices while building reliable systems that enable engineering teams to safely ship weekly binary updates at global scale.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain components of predominantly C++ systems that report stability, reliability, and performance signals across Roblox clients, working from defined designs and contributing to technical decisions within your area
- Write well-instrumented, production-quality code across supported platforms (mobile, desktop, consoles) with guidance on complex systems-level work
- Deliver tools and signals that engineers use to detect, understand, and resolve disruptions to user experience, and help improve them based on feedback from those teams
Requirements:
- 1+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong ownership of complex technical systems
- Comfortable working with systems-level programming languages (C++, C#, Objective C, Rust, or similar)
- Eager to work across a wide range of systems and understand the engine end-to-end
- Considerate of how your work impacts the team and users over time, not just completing deliverables
