Superhuman (formerly Grammarly) is seeking a full-stack Software Engineer to join the Developer Experience team embedded within Superhuman Docs. This is a high-autonomy, high-impact role focused on building engineering velocity and making other engineers faster and happier.
You will serve as the embedded Developer Experience partner for the Docs business unit, acting as a bridge between engineers and leadership. Your responsibilities include implementing platform initiatives within the Docs context, resolving developer friction autonomously, and feeding real-world needs back to the central platform organization.
Key responsibilities:
- Implement and adapt central platform team initiatives within the Docs codebase
- Build full-stack internal tooling and self-service platforms tailored to team workflows
- Improve and own CI/CD pipelines and deployment tooling to enable safe, fast releases
- Streamline local development across a hybrid monolith-and-microservices architecture
- Work hands-on with build systems (Bazel or equivalents) and Kubernetes infrastructure
- Create golden paths, templates, and documentation to establish best practices
- Define and track developer productivity metrics to validate impact
- Communicate across engineering and business leadership to prioritize DevX roadmap
The role involves significant greenfield work—standing up new tools, workflows, and practices from scratch. You'll see direct, measurable impact: improvements to the build process compound across hundreds of weekly pull requests, making the work quantifiable and immediately felt.
Required qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years software engineering experience with meaningful full-stack exposure
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Go, Python, Java, TypeScript preferred)
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD systems, build tooling, and developer workflow automation
- Experience with large-scale build systems like Bazel
- Comfort with cloud-native environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Kubernetes
- Experience with hybrid monolith-and-microservices architectures and high-volume release processes
- Strong empathy and communication skills—this role is approximately 50% conversation
- Genuine motivation to improve how other engineers work, not just shipping features
- Alignment with company values: ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, remarkable
The company offers competitive compensation, comprehensive health benefits, disability and life insurance, and 401(k) options.
