Salary: USD 160,000 - 200,000 / annual
Discord is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Data Platform team, responsible for building and maintaining infrastructure that processes petabytes of data across millions of daily active users. The role involves designing and implementing data ingestion, transformation, and serving systems that power insights for product, engineering, and data science teams across the platform.
You will own projects end-to-end, from design through deployment and production support, with guidance from senior engineers. Your work will directly impact how Discord's gaming communities connect and how the company makes data-driven decisions. You'll collaborate closely with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to deliver solutions that scale to Discord's massive user base.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong programming skills in Python, Java, Rust, Go, or similar languages. You should have solid computer science fundamentals, demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies, strong debugging skills, and excellent collaboration abilities. Experience with the data ecosystem (Kafka, Spark, Flink, Airflow, Dagster, SQL) and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) or containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
This is a full-time position based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with relocation assistance potentially available. The role requires candidates to reside in or be willing to relocate to the Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma).
