Salary: USD 140,000 - 200,000 / annual
Speechify is a 50M+ user text-to-speech platform that transforms reading into audio across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and web. With ~200 distributed employees globally, Speechify is building next-generation AI models for accessibility.
You'll join the Data side of the AI team, owning all aspects of data collection and infrastructure to support model training at petabyte scale. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll:
- Source and integrate new audio data streams into production ingestion pipelines
- Operate and extend cloud infrastructure (GCP, Terraform) for data collection workflows
- Partner closely with ML scientists to optimize the cost/throughput/quality frontier, delivering richer datasets at scale
- Collaborate with AI leadership to shape the dataset roadmap powering next-generation consumer and enterprise products
You'll be scrappy and pragmatic, balancing infrastructure reliability with rapid iteration. The role requires strong fundamentals in distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering.
Ideal candidates have 5+ years of software development experience, proficiency in Python/bash, hands-on Docker and IaC experience (GCP preferred), and ideally background with web crawlers or large-scale data pipelines. BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field expected. You'll thrive in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment with a hands-off management style and asynchronous culture.
