Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Data side of its AI team. The company's mission is to make reading accessible through text-to-speech technology, serving over 50 million users globally across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome Extension, and Web platforms. Google named Speechify Chrome Extension of the Year, and Apple awarded it the 2025 Design Award for Inclusivity. In this role, you'll own all aspects of data collection to support model training operations. You'll work on building high-quality datasets at petabyte-scale while optimizing for cost and quality. Key responsibilities include: - Sourcing new audio data and integrating it into the ingestion pipeline - Operating and extending cloud infrastructure for data ingestion (GCP, Terraform) - Collaborating with research scientists to optimize the cost/throughput/quality frontier - Working with the AI team and leadership to shape the dataset roadmap for next-generation consumer and enterprise products You should have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, with 5+ years of industry software development experience. Required skills include bash/Python scripting in Linux, Docker, Infrastructure-as-Code, and hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (GCP preferred). Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus.
