Salary: USD 156,000 - 186,000 / annual

Muon Space is seeking a Software Engineer, Customer Solutions to join its Software team and serve as a technical expert for external payload partners integrating with Muon's LEO satellite constellation platform. In this hybrid role (3 days/week on-site in San Jose), you will own the end-to-end engineering experience for customers, guiding them through payload integration, software development kits, and best practices for deploying instruments in orbit. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the customer integration experience across commanding, telemetry, payload management, fault detection/recovery, and data downlink - Partnering with Flight Software, Mission Engineering, and Systems Engineering teams to influence platform design and payload interface evolution - Running customer-facing technical exchanges, design reviews, and integration test campaigns; serving as the named technical point of contact for payload partners - Authoring and maintaining customer-facing developer guides, sample code, and reference applications for the Payload Software Development Kit - Maintaining epics, estimating forward-looking work, and escalating roadmap changes early - Defining and tracking integration experience metrics (cycle time, issue lead time) and managing OKRs for your area You will help customers test their code and payloads well in advance of launch, set up simulations and tests to build confidence, and ensure seamless transitions so systems work identically in test and on orbit. Required qualifications: B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or equivalent); 5+ years professional software engineering experience shipping customer-facing software; strong fluency in modern C++ and Python; excellent coding, design, and communication skills. Nice-to-have: spaceflight flight software or safety-critical embedded software experience; third-party payload integration experience; SDK/developer documentation/partner program experience; Linux real-time systems and embedded networking (Ethernet/CAN/serial) familiarity; negotiation and customer alignment experience.
