Ollama is the largest developer network in the open-model ecosystem, with 8.9 million monthly active developers and 67,000+ community-built integrations. Backed by Y Combinator, Benchmark, 8VC, and Theory Ventures, the company operates as a small, talent-dense, flat team focused on shipping code quickly. In this role, you'll own the developer experience for Ollama users, serving as the connective tissue between the community and product team. You'll be responsible for understanding where developers get stuck and translating those insights into product improvements, better error messages, documentation, and fixes. Key responsibilities include: managing the support queue by triaging, reproducing, and resolving issues across all platforms and environments; engaging with the open-source community on GitHub and Discord; fixing bugs directly in Ollama's codebase; designing and building automation for support systems including triage tooling, diagnostics, and internal dashboards; identifying patterns in user issues and communicating them to product and engineering teams; working directly with developers from individuals to large teams; and improving documentation and error messages to prevent recurring problems. You should be a software engineer who genuinely enjoys helping users—perhaps with prior support engineering, developer experience, or internal team support experience. You're hands-on and can reproduce unfamiliar environments, read stack traces, run models, and debug real setups. You're comfortable diving into large open-source codebases (Go experience is a plus) and prefer building systems that eliminate entire classes of problems rather than repeatedly closing the same ticket. You communicate clearly and with empathy, can simplify complex technical setups for developers, and move fast in ambiguous situations. Experience with model deployment, GPU/ML infrastructure, or developer tools is a bonus.
