Robinhood's Cryptographic Services & Infrastructure team is seeking a Software Engineer to help build and operationalize the company's new in-house card-processing service. This is a high-impact role protecting sensitive financial and customer data through cryptographic key management, encryption, and decryption services.
Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and maintaining production services and infrastructure for key management and encryption functions; architecting, launching, and scaling the in-house card-processing environment; writing clean, maintainable production code and operational tooling; collaborating with internal engineering teams on migrations and adoption of cryptographic capabilities; and participating in a rotating on-call schedule to maintain availability and security.
You should have experience building, operating, or supporting production services, distributed systems, or infrastructure. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, Go, Java, C#, or C++) is required, along with the ability to reason about complex systems and work across software development, infrastructure, and operational reliability domains. Strong communication skills and curiosity about security engineering principles are essential.
Bonus qualifications include SRE or platform engineering experience, familiarity with key management and cryptographic concepts, experience handling sensitive financial or payment data in regulated environments, and background supporting internal migrations or platform adoption.
The role is based in Bellevue, WA and Menlo Park, CA offices with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.
