LEAP is a leading Legal Practice Management Software provider serving over 71,000 lawyers and staff in small and medium-sized law firms globally. The Criminal Law team is a specialist division building software specifically for criminal law practices, combining legal expertise with modern software engineering.
In this hybrid role based in Sydney, you'll work as a full-stack software engineer on the Criminal Law team, collaborating with product owners, in-house criminal lawyers, and client operations teams. Your responsibilities span both content development and full-stack engineering, translating product concepts into functional web applications and content solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing backend APIs and services with scalability for large datasets and user bases
- Building frontend applications using modern web technologies, particularly React
- Creating and maintaining automated forms, precedents, and matter types for criminal law documentation
- Implementing secure customer authentication and evolving deployment practices
- Developing content applications such as Word add-ins and Definable Table Apps using LEAP's Galaxy Design System
- Building calculation objects and document automation logic for accurate legal documentation
- Collaborating with content teams and in-house lawyers to translate legal requirements into working software
- Managing code through Git version control, testing, and CI/CD deployment
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years hands-on full-stack software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in React and modern front-end frameworks
- Expertise in at least one modern server-side programming language
- Solid database technology experience
- Proficiency in Test Driven Development and automated testing
- Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js
- Understanding of document automation and software development lifecycle
