Salary: USD 130,000 - 185,000 / annual
FOSSA is a Series B SaaS platform that helps engineering and legal teams manage open-source compliance, security, and regulatory complexity. The company serves thousands of organizations by automating license compliance, prioritizing vulnerabilities, generating SBOMs, and meeting regulatory requirements.
The Core team owns the heart of the FOSSA product: the customer-facing application, APIs, integrations, and underlying data model. This is a full-stack engineering role where you will design, build, and ship features end-to-end, from database schema through the API to the user interface. You will own the complete lifecycle of your work—scoping, implementation, testing, rollout, and post-launch monitoring—rather than handing off at team boundaries.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and ship full-stack features used daily by enterprise customers
- Own features end-to-end with accountability for design, code, testing, and rollout
- Work across Node.js, TypeScript, React, and PostgreSQL
- Partner with product, design, and support teams to translate customer problems into working software
- Improve system reliability and performance at enterprise scale
- Conduct thoughtful code reviews and raise quality standards
- Participate in on-call rotation and improve system operability
You should have demonstrated experience building and shipping scalable SaaS products with real ownership, full-stack development experience, solid relational database and SQL skills, and comfort working in large existing codebases. Experience with agentic tooling and AI-assisted workflows is valued, as is familiarity with observability tools. The role requires strong problem-solving, communication, and mentoring abilities, with a preference for prototyping over lengthy proposals. FOSSA is a distributed team with roots in San Francisco and members across multiple countries and time zones.
