Neo4j is seeking an experienced backend engineer to join the Kernel team, which develops the core storage engines, transaction handling, indexes, data import, and page cache systems for the world's leading graph database platform. The role is based in Malmö with an international team also in London.
You will build and ship new features for the core database, write high-quality and efficient code, and actively participate in feature discussions and roadmap prioritization. The team regularly incorporates research and emerging technologies into the product, and you'll have "do what you want weeks" to work on your own product enhancements and integrations.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing multi-threaded systems and algorithms, optimizing performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading development projects. You'll work with a talented, energetic team that values intellectual honesty and collaborative problem-solving.
Required qualifications: deep experience designing multi-threaded systems and algorithms; strong understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms; proficiency in Java or C-style languages; strong troubleshooting and performance profiling skills; experience leading and delivering development projects; excellent communication skills and humility in collaborative environments.
