Landline is building ground connectivity infrastructure that enables passengers to clear security and check in for flights before reaching the airport. Operating on behalf of major carriers like American Airlines and Air Canada, the company integrates booking, secure transport, and baggage handling into a single ticket across a growing North American network.
As a Software Engineer focused on Connected Fleet & Operations, you will own the field software layer that powers Landline's 24/7 live operation. This includes the driver app used on every trip, handheld tools for station staff to manage shifts (scanning, verification, photo capture, real-time status), and platform integrations connecting to booking systems and the operations backend.
Key responsibilities include designing and shipping field-facing tools that work reliably in real conditions—offline, with gloves, in glare, one-handed. You'll integrate device capabilities (camera, barcode/NFC scanning, GPS) to make field events verifiable and auditable without friction. You'll work with IoT and vehicle telematics platforms like Samsara to unify vehicle, device, and operational data into a real-time operational picture. When needed, you'll reach across the platform—from booking flows to dispatch visibility to backend services—to ensure field tools and core systems behave as one product.
The role emphasizes agentic workflows and LLM-driven tooling, both in development and production. You'll deploy forward by riding along with drivers, working station shifts at partner hub airports, and shipping fixes within days. Your users include Landline's own teams and airline partner staff you operate alongside.
You should have experience building for spotty connectivity with offline-first instincts, device and IoT integration (camera, barcode/NFC, GPS), and modern web fluency in Next.js/Vercel environments. Experience with telematics platforms, rugged devices, BLE sensors, agentic/LLM workflows, or forward-deployed roles (FDE, solutions engineering, internal tools in physical ops) is valued. Secure-by-design thinking is essential given the regulated environment and federal-grade standards. Travel and logistics startup background or familiarity with regulated data environments is a plus.
