Landline is building ground connectivity infrastructure that enables passengers to clear security and check in for flights before reaching the airport. The company operates a live 24/7 operation across North America in partnership with major carriers like American Airlines and Air Canada. As a Software Engineer on the Connected Fleet & Operations team, you will own the field software layer that powers Landline's operations. This includes the driver app used on every trip, handheld tools for station staff (scanning, verification, photo capture, real-time status), and platform integrations connecting booking systems, operations backends, and field teams in real time. Key responsibilities: - Design and maintain the driver app and handheld tools for frontline staff, optimizing for real field conditions (offline use, glare, gloves, one-handed operation) - Integrate device capabilities (camera, barcode/NFC scanning, GPS) to make field events verifiable and auditable - Work with IoT and vehicle telematics platforms (e.g., Samsara) to unify vehicle, device, and operational data - Build across the platform stack—from booking flows to dispatch visibility to operations backend—ensuring field tools and core systems work as one product - Develop and deploy agentic workflows using LLM-driven tooling in both development and production - Deploy forward by riding along with drivers, working station shifts at partner hubs, and shipping fixes within days You should have experience building for spotty connectivity and offline-first architectures, device/IoT integration (camera, barcode/NFC, GPS), and modern web stacks (Next.js/Vercel). Experience with telematics platforms, rugged devices, BLE sensors, agentic/LLM workflows, and forward-deployed roles (FDE, solutions engineering, internal tools in physical ops) is valued. Secure-by-design thinking is essential given the regulated environment and federal-grade standards. Travel and logistics startup background or familiarity with regulated data environments is a plus. The role offers ground-floor ownership of tools a live operation depends on daily, proximity to users (seeing your work deployed within days), and a small, ambitious team culture valuing speed, creativity, and autonomy. Benefits include global flight privileges, flexible remote work with regular travel to US/Canada stations, competitive salary, 401(k), PTO, and comprehensive health coverage.
