Landline is building ground connectivity infrastructure for major airlines (American Airlines, Air Canada) that enables passengers to clear security and check in for flights closer to home before reaching the airport. The company operates a live 24/7 network across North America, handling booking, secure transport, and baggage handling. As a Software Engineer on the Connected Fleet & Operations team, you'll own the field software layer that powers Landline's operations. This includes the driver app used on every trip, handheld tools for station staff (scanning, verification, photo capture, real-time status), and backend integrations connecting to booking systems and the operations platform. Key responsibilities: - Design and maintain the driver app and frontline staff tools, optimizing for real field conditions (offline use, glare, gloves, one-handed operation) - Integrate device capabilities (camera, barcode/NFC scanning, GPS) to make field events verifiable and auditable - Work with IoT and vehicle telematics platforms (like Samsara) to unify vehicle, device, and operational data into a real-time picture - Build across the full stack—from booking flows to dispatch visibility to operations backend—ensuring field tools and core systems work as one product - Develop and deploy agentic workflows using LLM-driven tooling in both development and production - Deploy forward by riding along with drivers and working station shifts at partner hub airports, shipping fixes within days You'll work on a modern, engineer-friendly stack with a small, ambitious team that values speed, creativity, autonomy, and bias for action. Regular travel to stations in the USA and Canada (including Montréal, Boston, Denver, Philadelphia) is expected. Ideal candidates have experience with offline-first architecture, device/IoT integration, modern web development (Next.js/Vercel), telematics platforms, agentic/LLM workflows, and secure-by-design practices. Forward-deployed experience (FDE, solutions engineering, or internal tools in physical operations) is highly valued. Travel or logistics startup background and familiarity with regulated data environments are pluses.
