More than 2 million Verkada devices are deployed across 170+ countries. The Computer Vision team develops the AI and machine learning models powering Verkada's advanced analytics. As a Software Engineer on this team, you will work on creating and refining algorithms for people and vehicle detection, license plate recognition, unusual object detection, object/people counting, vision language models, and real-time facial recognition. Key responsibilities include: - Writing clean, modular C++ code for production systems - Implementing traditional computer vision algorithms - Training deep learning networks using PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or similar frameworks - Designing data structures and system architecture - Recent project examples: binary classifiers for camera state detection, scene change detection, object frequency analysis, text-image embedding models, edge-deployed license plate recognition, and real-time facial recognition systems You will work onsite five days per week in San Mateo. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (preferably with research experience), 1-3 years of industry software engineering experience, 1+ years with neural network frameworks, mastery of at least one practical programming language, and experience in agile team environments.
