The Compute Software Engineering role is foundational to Lambda's Public and Private Cloud offerings. You will develop and integrate workflows for compute instance lifecycle management, system health monitoring, host and cluster validation, and evolve internal platform tooling. Working closely with cross-functional engineering teams, you'll improve the bare-metal and VM developer and customer experiences while streamlining the software delivery lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: - Design, develop, and maintain software for GPU/CPU compute infrastructure with focus on performance, scalability, and reliability - Implement and develop services for baremetal and VM instancing - Develop distributed systems for managing and orchestrating compute resources across various SKUs - Troubleshoot and debug complex issues in production and development environments - On-call and incident ownership - Collaborate across multiple teams and drive clarity on ambiguous requirements through RFCs You bring 3+ years of production experience with Go or Python, 3+ years working with bare metal and virtualization hardware management, and comfort debugging at the OS, hardware, and networking layers. You can independently troubleshoot complex systems and communicate effectively across software, infrastructure, and vendor teams. Nice-to-have skills include familiarity with GPU infrastructure, Slurm or Kubernetes cluster management, public cloud internals (virtualization, KVM, QEMU, security, fleet health), and durable execution platforms like Temporal.
