Salary: USD 133,000 - 184,000 / annual
Chime is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Communication Platform team, a foundational group responsible for the messaging infrastructure that powers the platform for millions of members. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and scale changes to both mobile and backend architecture, working fullstack across the entire stack.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems within the team's domain, develop thoroughly tested code, and conduct quality assurance on all new code. As a small and nimble team, each engineer has a profound impact on the user experience. You will work both independently and as part of a team to deliver on goals that accelerate development velocity while maintaining the best experience for Chime's members.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing scalable systems, driving architectural changes to the messaging layer, and ensuring code quality and reliability at scale. You will need to understand architectural patterns of large production services and be able to safely make changes without disrupting service for millions of users.
Required qualifications include a minimum of 3 years of fullstack development experience, with demonstrated expertise in backend development and frameworks (GraphQL and Ruby are bonuses). Mobile development experience with frameworks like React Native is also required. You should have a strong track record of cross-functional collaboration, self-motivation, attention to detail, and a genuine empathy for end users. Understanding of how to build and maintain systems at scale is essential.
