Coinbase is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Stablecoin team, which builds and operates Coinbase Custom Stablecoins (CCS)—a platform enabling partners to launch branded, USDC-backed stablecoins on Coinbase's infrastructure.
In this role, you'll work on both backend services and smart contracts that power the full stablecoin lifecycle: issuance, reserves management, minting/burning, and rewards distribution. You'll collaborate closely with senior engineers, product managers, and designers to ship features quarterly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and extending smart contract functionality for minting, burning, and supply safeguarding, with design and security review from senior engineers
- Implementing backend services for onboarding, issuance, reserve accounting, and rewards distribution
- Developing reporting, monitoring, and internal tooling to improve reliability and operational excellence
- Writing high-quality, well-tested code across backend and smart contract surfaces
- Collaborating across engineering, design, and product to execute the stablecoin roadmap
You'll need 2+ years of production backend service experience, exposure to smart contract development (Solidity or EVM languages) or demonstrated ability to ramp quickly in new domains with mentorship, comfort with service-oriented architecture at scale, and familiarity with Golang and blockchain fundamentals (Ethereum or similar). The role also emphasizes responsible use of generative AI tools in daily workflows.
Coinbase is a remote-first company with quarterly in-person "surge" sessions for intense collaborative work. The environment is high-intensity and mission-driven, focused on increasing economic freedom through cryptocurrency infrastructure.
