Coinbase is seeking a Software Engineer to join the CDP Payment Acceptance team within the Developer group. You will build the stablecoin payment rail powering merchant checkout, subscriptions, and onchain settlement for businesses globally.
In this role, you'll own end-to-end feature delivery across Go backend services and React/Next.js frontend, shipping full-stack features that directly contribute to becoming the most trusted stablecoin payment rail for global commerce.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver complete features spanning Go backend services and React/Next.js merchant checkout UI, including gRPC/HTTP APIs, protobuf definitions, database migrations, and TypeScript integrations
- Build and optimize the buyer checkout experience (payment links, embeddable components, wallet connection flows via WalletConnect, wagmi/viem) with focus on conversion, accessibility, and performance
- Implement durable, fault-tolerant payment workflows using Temporal for onchain settlement, refunds, and reconciliation against PostgreSQL
- Instrument all changes with structured logs, metrics, and Datadog traces; own on-call rotation for services you ship
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineering teams across CDP, Base, and Coinbase Business to integrate Payment Acceptance into the broader developer platform
Required experience:
- 3+ years professional full-stack software engineering shipping production systems in Go (concurrency, gRPC, testing) and TypeScript/React (hooks, suspense, server components, Next.js)
- Demonstrated expertise with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred): schema design, migrations, query performance, transactional correctness
- Proven track record designing APIs (protobuf/gRPC, REST, OpenAPI) and instrumenting production systems with structured observability (Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or similar)
- Experience building durable workflow systems (Temporal, Cadence, Step Functions) or working with EVM blockchains, stablecoins, and onchain payment patterns
- Strong written communication: design docs, PR descriptions, runbooks enabling cross-team collaboration and operational maturity
- Responsible use of generative AI tools (LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs
