Salary: USD 196,000 - 294,000 / annual
Vercel is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Edge team and help scale and improve the company's global CDN infrastructure, availability, and reliability. You will work alongside backend engineers and product teams to identify infrastructure problems, create tooling, and build automation that serves petabytes of data and billions of requests daily.
The role is dynamic and requires comfort with system design, writing production code, and debugging live systems. The Edge team orchestrates deployment, routing, and serving for millions of developers through capabilities that leverage cloud providers' infrastructure for networking, TLS termination, routing, storage, caching, and novel edge services.
Key responsibilities include designing high-performance systems that scale in the cloud, protecting the Vercel platform from abuse, experimenting with new approaches, and delivering secure and reliable systems. You'll work with web servers, network protocols, and cloud infrastructure at scale.
The role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday if you're within commuting distance of the SF or NY offices. Those beyond commuting distance can work fully remote.
Required qualifications: at least 5 years of relevant experience, deep knowledge of high-performance cloud systems, proficiency in Golang, familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.), and strong understanding of web servers and network protocols. Nice-to-have skills include Terraform, Kubernetes, Lua, React, and Next.js experience.
