Salary: USD 320,000 - 405,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking a Software Engineer to build internal products that power the organization. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and design, where you'll own outcomes rather than just execute tasks.
You will rapidly design, prototype, and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and infrastructure. You'll work directly with internal users and stakeholders to understand their workflows, identify patterns in their requests, and build the right abstractions that unlock capabilities for the broader team. Your responsibilities include consulting with users to spot opportunities, reducing requests into reusable primitives and platforms, and building tools that maximize autonomy for less-technical users.
Key aspects of the role involve making product and prioritization decisions (not just executing specs), iterating quickly based on feedback, and picking up new tools and frameworks as the product evolves. You'll operate as a team of one when needed—capable of taking a product from idea to shipped—while also collaborating with others.
Ideal candidates have 6+ years of production software experience, ideally full-stack. You think in systems and abstractions, see the platform behind feature requests, and care about empowering users. You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information, own outcomes rather than just code, and hold yourself to a high bar. Strong candidates have proficiency across the stack (Python, TypeScript, React), experience building platforms or internal tools others build on, and a track record of shipping products independently.
