Salary: GBP 255,000 - 325,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking a Software Engineer to build internal products that power the organization. This role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and design, where you'll own outcomes rather than just execute tasks.
You will rapidly design, prototype, and ship full-stack features across backend, frontend, and infrastructure. You'll work directly with internal users and stakeholders to understand their workflows and identify high-impact opportunities. A key part of the role is spotting patterns across user requests and reducing them into reusable primitives, platforms, or middleware that support multiple use cases—not just one-off features.
You'll build tools that maximize autonomy and creative freedom for less-technical users, make product and prioritization decisions independently, and iterate quickly based on feedback. The role requires you to pick up new tools, frameworks, and domains as the product evolves.
Ideal candidates have 6+ years of production software experience, ideally full-stack. You should be capable of operating as a team of one when needed—taking a product from idea to shipped. You think in systems and abstractions, seeing the platform behind feature requests. You care about empowering users and own outcomes, not just code. You're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and operating with ambiguity, and you hold yourself to a high bar without external pressure.
Strong candidates will have proficiency across the stack (Python, TypeScript, React), experience building platforms or internal tools that others build on, and a track record of shipping products independently.
