Neuralink is building brain-computer interface (BCI) devices that restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize human-digital interaction. The BCI Applications Team delivers software that enables people with paralysis to control computers, phones, and robotic arms with their minds at the speed and functionality of able-bodied users.
As a Software Engineer on this team, you will work directly with clinical trial participants to understand their needs and build BCI software systems that deliver exceptional user experiences. You'll collaborate across a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, design engineers, ML engineers, and neuro-engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, test, and validate full-stack software systems with emphasis on native platforms (desktop, Android, iOS)
- Design and implement brain-computer interface functionalities and novel user interfaces
- Work directly with study participants to iterate on and refine software based on real-world feedback
- Write algorithms to decode brain activity and translate neural signals into user commands
- Design user experiences optimized for brain control
- Mentor team members through code review, design review, and technical presentations
- Contribute to engineering excellence across the team
Required qualifications include strong full-stack development experience, deep knowledge of operating systems, low-latency concurrency programming, memory management, and networking. You should be fluent in Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, or Java, with a track record of architecting elegant, maintainable, and performant user-facing applications. The role requires evidence of delivering high-impact projects with clear metrics and fast iteration cycles, exceptional engineering ability, and strong first-principles thinking. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.
The posting explicitly states the team is hiring at all levels—junior and senior—with emphasis on evidence of exceptional abilities and drive to succeed.
