As a Backend Engineer on the Engineering team, you will design, develop, and maintain the core systems powering Mistral's AI platform. Your work directly impacts the reliability, performance, and scalability of Studio, Vibe, and Vibe Code—products used by millions of developers and users.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop scalable backend features and APIs that power the AI platform
- Ensure high performance and reliability across distributed systems serving millions of users
- Build and improve systems for authentication, billing, AI tooling, and developer experience
- Design and implement secure, scalable architectures supporting growing products
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on deployment, monitoring, and performance optimization
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end features
- Solve complex engineering challenges and integrate new technologies into production
You should have experience designing and building scalable backend systems and APIs, strong problem-solving skills for complex engineering challenges, and familiarity with distributed systems and performance optimization. Experience with modern backend frameworks, system architecture, and secure design is expected. You'll need strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and a commitment to writing maintainable code. An eagerness to learn, iterate, and deliver products is essential.
