Mirage is an AI video company building creative tools that make video generation and editing dramatically easier. The company develops multimodal AI agents, rendering engines for compositing video and graphics, and generative video models. Their flagship product is Captions, a creative workspace for generating, editing, and designing video. They also offer Tesseract, a professional video engine for AI agents, and APIs for developers to integrate their models.
As a Backend Software Engineer, you will own critical backend systems end-to-end, working across product, platform, and machine learning. You'll partner closely with product, design, client, and AI teams to turn ambitious ideas into reliable, scalable production systems. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems while staying connected to product and user outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and own backend systems end-to-end, including services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure powering all product surfaces
- Solve complex technical challenges across distributed systems, scaling, concurrency, and performance
- Integrate and operate large generative AI models in production—deploying, serving, and scaling systems that combine internal research and external capabilities
- Instrument, experiment, and iterate in production to continuously improve system and product quality
- Design and operate core platform infrastructure, including third-party integrations, storage systems, security, and internal APIs

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of professional industry experience
- Track record of shipping high-impact systems and/or products in production
- Exceptional problem-solving fundamentals and ability to learn
- Excellent engineering taste combined with strong practicality and time-management
- Ability to operate effectively in extremely fast-paced environment and scope/deliver projects end-to-end
PREFERRED:
- Extensive experience with LLMs, generative media models, and knowledge of technology direction
- Grounded, collaborative approach and willingness to do whatever it takes to help the team win
- Experience as a startup founder or early engineer at a startup
