As a Backend Software Engineer, you'll own critical backend systems end-to-end, working across product, platform, and machine learning infrastructure. You'll design and build services, APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure that power the product surfaces. Key responsibilities include designing and owning backend systems end-to-end; solving complex technical challenges around distributed systems, scaling, concurrency, and performance; integrating and operating large generative AI models in production; instrumenting and experimenting in production to improve system and product quality; and designing core platform infrastructure including third-party integrations, storage, security, and internal APIs.
You should have 2+ years of professional industry experience with a track record of shipping high-impact systems and products in production. Exceptional problem-solving fundamentals, strong engineering taste, practicality, and time-management are essential. You'll need to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment and scope/deliver projects end-to-end. Experience with LLMs, generative media models, startup founding, or early-stage engineering is a plus. The role requires in-person presence at the NYC headquarters in Union Square.
