The Software Engineer (Backend) role is part of the Engineering team, reporting to the Backend Lead. You will design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services and robust APIs that power the platform. Key responsibilities include defining and implementing API contracts for seamless data integration with frontend and consuming services, troubleshooting and optimizing backend system performance, architecting and managing AWS cloud infrastructure for scalability and reliability, and documenting system configurations and procedures. You will also conduct rigorous code reviews, providing constructive feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability across the team.
Required qualifications include at least 3 years of professional experience developing scalable backend systems using object-oriented languages (Python, Java, or Go). You should have deep expertise with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB), including schema design, query optimization, and management. Strong system architecture knowledge is essential, with proven ability to design for performance, security, and high availability in distributed systems. You must have demonstrated experience designing, building, and documenting RESTful and/or gRPC APIs, with strong hands-on experience in Django and Django REST Framework for scalable backend applications. AWS cloud infrastructure management and service deployment experience is required, along with the ability to implement robust monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions for production environments.
Microservices expertise is important—you should be comfortable designing, developing, and deploying containerized microservices on AWS platforms like ECS or Fargate. An automation-first mindset is valued, with implementation experience using infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Nice-to-have skills include DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, containerization technologies (Docker), and experience with message queuing or streaming systems (Kafka, SQS).
