As a Backend Software Engineer, you will design, develop, test, and operate reliable backend services supporting Binance.US products and platform capabilities. You will work as a fully proficient individual contributor, independently owning projects and solving complex technical problems while contributing to platform reliability and evolution.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing high-quality backend services and APIs using Java and related technologies; owning backend features throughout the software development lifecycle from design through deployment and maintenance; designing scalable, reliable, and performant services for high-throughput applications with attention to distributed systems, data integrity, security, and fault tolerance; collaborating with Product, Infrastructure, Security, Compliance, and Engineering teams to translate requirements into solutions; developing and integrating RESTful APIs, microservices, databases, and messaging systems; participating in technical design and code reviews to improve architecture and code quality; building automated testing, monitoring, logging, and observability into services; investigating production issues and participating in incident response; and identifying performance bottlenecks and technical debt to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
Required experience includes 5+ years of professional software engineering (or 3+ years with an advanced degree), strong production experience with Java and frameworks like Spring/Spring Boot, experience designing RESTful APIs and microservices, knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes), experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies like Kafka, and strong software engineering fundamentals. Experience in cryptocurrency, fintech, payments, or high-availability financial systems is preferred. Bilingual English/Mandarin capability is a plus.
