Salary: USD 158,000 - 237,000 / annual
Rubrik Atlas is the core distributed data platform powering all Rubrik products across data centers, edge, and cloud environments. It is a scale-out, fault-tolerant, deduplicated user-space filesystem combining block device and S3 backend storage interfaces.
The Atlas Distributed Systems team is seeking an experienced engineer to guide the next evolution of the data platform. You will design, develop, and deliver cutting-edge solutions as Rubrik expands support for diverse applications (Kubernetes, Oracle, EC2, RDS), hardware storage platforms (SSD, HDD, S3, Azure Blob, EBS), and cloud protection capabilities (SaaS protection, data security, immutability).
Key responsibilities include:
- Outlining architectural principles and prototyping platform changes
- Designing and implementing features including cloud storage-backed filesystems with cost analysis, optimized data formats for read/write performance, deduplication, compression, reliability, and resiliency
- Building infinite scalability, performance tooling using eBPF, asynchronous programming, read-ahead techniques, snapshotting, data integrity, and data security capabilities
- Providing technical direction to multiple teams across Rubrik on how to build on top of Atlas
- Working with a high-caliber team that has attracted some of Rubrik's strongest technical talent
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in distributed file systems
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems design and development
- Experience building systems at scale and backend development
- Hands-on C++ coding skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with storage solutions or data protection
- Knowledge of public cloud features and costs (AWS, Azure, GCP)
