As a Backend Software Engineer, you will be a core contributor to Thought Machine's Vault product, designing and implementing scalable, performant microservices that power modern banking infrastructure. You'll work in a fast-paced environment with high standards for code quality and production readiness, adopting best practices in continuous deployment and monorepo-style development. Key responsibilities include: - Design, implement, and develop scalable microservices using industry best practices - Write comprehensive automated unit and integration tests as part of the development lifecycle - Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure features are integrated coherently - Manage and debug deployments across testing and production environments - Translate customer requirements into actionable, trackable tickets - Interface with client-facing projects to scope work and define deliverables You should have solid experience with Python or Golang, a strong track record developing automated tests, and genuine interest in client-facing project work. Desirable skills include banking/finance domain knowledge, AWS or cloud provider experience, SQL/NoSQL databases, microservice architectures, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
