You will join the Extract team as a Data Collection & Integrations Engineer, responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and integrations that power the data platform. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on the full integration lifecycle: understanding third-party systems and APIs, designing connectors, implementing authentication and data collection flows, handling schema and API changes, and ensuring integrations remain reliable as customer usage and data volumes scale.
Key responsibilities include designing and building data collection integrations with external platforms; integrating with REST, GraphQL, webhooks, and other third-party APIs; building scalable data pipelines for collecting, processing, normalizing, and moving large data volumes; implementing authentication mechanisms (OAuth, API keys, tokens); handling real-world challenges like pagination, rate limits, retries, API inconsistencies, and schema changes; building reusable frameworks to accelerate integration development; monitoring and improving reliability and performance of connectors; investigating complex integration and data-quality issues; and working closely with Product to translate customer requirements into technical solutions.
You bring 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend engineering fundamentals. You have deep experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs, solid understanding of web technologies and protocols (HTTP, OAuth, authentication, cookies, webhooks), and proven ability building or maintaining data pipelines, integrations, or data ingestion systems. Strong SQL skills, experience with Python or another backend language, and the ability to independently investigate third-party APIs and turn documentation into reliable production integrations are essential. You demonstrate strong ownership mentality and can work independently in fast-moving environments.
Advantages include Rust experience, ETL/ELT or data integration product background, cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure), integration experience with databases, data warehouses, SaaS applications, advertising platforms, or analytics systems, connector framework or integration SDK design experience, and high-volume or distributed data systems experience.
