Scarlet is building AI-powered infrastructure to accelerate medical device certification and regulatory compliance. The company combines clinical, technical, and regulatory expertise with software to help ambitious technology companies bring AI-enabled medical devices to market faster—cutting certification timelines by a year or more while maintaining rigorous safety standards. You'll join a small, mission-driven engineering team solving complex domain problems in healthcare regulation and product certification. The role involves building and maintaining a tech stack (primarily Clojure-based) that handles intricate regulatory workflows, clinical assessment tools, and customer-facing products. You'll work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, regulatory experts, and clinical stakeholders to ship features at a high cadence while ensuring safety and quality. The team operates with minimal meetings, asynchronous collaboration, and high autonomy. You're expected to think independently, communicate clearly in writing, and take ownership of problems. The company meets in-person twice yearly in London for a week. Ideal candidates have a few years of professional software development experience, ideally with Clojure or full-stack web development. Prior exposure to healthtech or regulatory domains is a plus but not required. You should be curious, driven to understand first principles, and genuinely excited about the mission of accelerating safe medical innovation.
