Pine is a fast-growing Canadian fintech company reinventing the mortgage experience through intelligent technology and automation. As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll design, build, and scale products used by thousands of Canadians, working across the entire technology stack.
You'll develop modern, responsive user experiences using React and Next.js on the frontend, and build scalable backend services using Kotlin, Postgres, and AWS. Your responsibilities include designing and deploying high-quality full-stack applications, collaborating with Product and Design teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences, participating in technical architecture discussions, and contributing to shared component libraries and frontend architecture.
You'll write clean, maintainable, well-tested code, perform thoughtful code reviews, mentor teammates, troubleshoot production issues, and help shape engineering best practices and development workflows. The role emphasizes leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity while maintaining high engineering standards, and exploring opportunities to incorporate AI-powered capabilities into products and internal platforms.
Required experience includes building modern web applications in professional environments, strong proficiency with React, Next.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript, backend service development with typed languages (Kotlin, Golang, C#, Java, Rust), solid understanding of API design and distributed systems, Git and CI/CD workflows, HTML/CSS and responsive design, automated testing practices, and agile product team experience in fast-paced startups.
Bonus qualifications include experience integrating LLMs or AI APIs into production applications, AWS cloud platform expertise, fintech or regulated software development, and familiarity with observability and performance optimization tools.
