Salary: USD 95,500 - 138,550 / annual
Moody's Ratings Technology team is hiring a Software Engineer to design and deliver scalable cloud-native applications and platform services supporting critical business capabilities. You'll work on backend services, APIs, and data processing systems using Java, Spring, and REST technologies, with opportunities to integrate AI and large language models into products.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing critical backend services and APIs, writing clean and thoroughly tested code, solving complex distributed systems challenges, and collaborating with product managers and engineers to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions. You'll participate in architecture discussions and code reviews, own the full software development lifecycle from design through operational support, and identify opportunities to improve platform architecture.
Required qualifications: 3–5 years of experience in modern object-oriented programming languages (Java, Spring, Angular); hands-on experience designing and operating microservices, REST APIs, and GraphQL services; strong understanding of distributed systems including scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance; experience with cloud-native technologies, preferably AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes; knowledge of software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, observability, and secure development; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of AI technologies and large language models, demonstrated proficiency in AI concepts with hands-on experience using AI tools, and awareness of AI risk management and responsible AI use.
