Nuna is building an AI health coach designed to help the 130 million Americans managing chronic conditions. Unlike traditional healthcare's 15-minute clinic visits and unused patient portals, Nuna's coach is available 24/7, uses motivational interviewing techniques, and helps patients and families design experiments that fit their real lives. As a Software Engineer, you will own meaningful product features end-to-end: designing, building, shipping, and operating them in production. You'll work on the core systems powering the AI coach—including AI/agent logic, backend services, and the data infrastructure supporting it. You'll make architectural decisions within your domain with high autonomy and help raise the engineering bar across the team. Key responsibilities include: - Owning features and services end-to-end from design through production operation - Contributing to architecture decisions in AI/agent and product systems - Writing high-quality, well-tested, observable code and mentoring peers through reviews and pairing - Treating privacy, security, and responsible health data handling as core to the role - Breaking down ambiguous product problems into shippable work with pragmatic trade-offs - Partnering with product, design, and data teams to translate requirements into working software You'll need a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, strong backend and API development skills, and experience operating systems you've built (testing, deployment, observability). Comfort with ambiguity, clear communication, and genuine interest in healthcare improvement are essential. The role requires a minimum of 2 days per week in the San Francisco office. Bonus experience includes Kotlin, TypeScript, React, Flutter, AI/LLM product systems, healthcare data, mobile development, or early-stage consumer product shipping.
