MinIO is building the data and memory foundation for enterprise AI, serving 77% of the Fortune 100. The company is developing a complete data stack for AI including an exascale object store, table store, agent memory, and inference infrastructure—solving hard problems with no existing answers.
As a Software Engineer, you will own problems end-to-end, working on the kind of challenges most engineering teams never encounter. The role emphasizes full autonomy: no ticket queues, no standups, no permission needed. You'll work alongside a team of architects and senior individual contributors who are deeply invested in craftsmanship and systems excellence.
You should have deep expertise in OS internals, networking from the socket layer up, and strong opinions on memory, concurrency, and correctness. You've debugged issues no one else could reproduce and read source code out of genuine curiosity, not obligation. Key competencies include fluency in multiple programming languages, debugging by understanding rather than guessing, and the grit to start and finish hard things. Experience with operating systems, networking, systems programming, distributed systems, storage engines, vector/graph retrieval, low-latency I/O, and protocol design is valued.
MinIO's engineering culture is distinctive: all leads, architects, and ICs with no managers. Decisions are made by the people doing the work. There are no sprints, standups, or Jira. Craftsmanship is a first-class concern. The company offers health care (medical, dental, vision), 401K with 3% contribution, pre-IPO stock options, at least 12 public holidays, and flexible time off.
Applications must include a sample of your work—a repo, write-up, postmortem, or similar. Submissions without samples will not be considered.
