Heron Power is a startup building cutting-edge power electronics for grid modernization, focusing on innovative converters (inverters and rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads. The company is led by veterans with a decade of experience shipping gigawatts of power conversion products.
As a Software Engineer or Senior Software Engineer, you will be a core member of the software team responsible for building systems across the full stack: backend services, data pipelines, developer tooling, and cloud/deployment infrastructure. Your work will span from the factory floor Build platform and supply chain systems to internal tools and data infrastructure that engineers and operators depend on daily.
This is a hands-on role where you will write production code and design systems that scale from early production into volume manufacturing. You will own features and services end-to-end, translating real-world manufacturing and operations requirements into performant systems. At the Senior level, you will tackle larger, more ambiguous problems, contribute to architecture decisions, and mentor other engineers.
You will collaborate closely with hardware, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams, working shoulder-to-shoulder to solve difficult problems grounded in first principles engineering.
Required: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience); 2+ years professional software engineering (5+ for Senior level); production backend services experience with strong fundamentals in data modeling, APIs, and system design; proficiency in modern languages (Go, Python, TypeScript/JavaScript); hands-on cloud infrastructure experience (AWS or equivalent) and containers/Kubernetes; CI/CD pipeline and developer tooling experience; working knowledge of observability, security, and operational best practices; strong communication and cross-team collaboration skills; track record of end-to-end project delivery.
Nice-to-haves: manufacturing, supply chain, or hardware software experience (MES, WMS, ERP, factory systems); greenfield platform or internal tooling experience at fast-growing startups; relational databases, SQL, and data pipeline/warehousing design; event-driven architectures, message queues, or real-time telemetry; Linux, Git, and command-line proficiency; third-party SaaS integration and build-versus-buy experience.
